Are You Angry Yet? It’s Not a Matter of If but When

You’ve had this kind of day: you forgot to set your alarm, you received a late notice on a bill, and a family dinner is scheduled at your house, but you don’t feel like it. Are you angry yet? It’s not a matter of if, but when you get angry.

No one likes to admit to being angry. Especially Christians. It’s as if we live in an alternate universe where certain emotions, like anger, aren’t supposed to exist. What do we do? We stuff them down and hope we have the energy to keep them at bay.

Until we can’t, and we explode in anger all over anyone who is unfortunate enough to be standing nearby.

Not a Matter of If but When: A Personal Journey

I wrote Not a Matter of ‘If’ but ‘When’ out of my own journey of overcoming anger, and I want to share what I learned along the way.

As I lived and wrote, I discovered a life-changing truth: I don’t have to be controlled by anger. I can, with God’s help, master it.

I also learned that there are both right and wrong things to be angry about. Righteous anger has its place, but destructive anger only steals peace and damages relationships. Through Scripture and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I discovered how to live victoriously over anger. Honestly, I wish I had learned these lessons much sooner.

God’s Word, the Answer

Something important to remember on this journey is that God tells us we can be angry, but we shouldn’t allow that anger to lead us into sin. When that happens, our relationship with Him suffers.

In this teaching, I’ll bring you to God’s Word, where the answers always lie. There, we learn not to deny the existence of anger. Rather, we learn how to deal with it.

not a matter of if

The question is not whether anger will come.

The question is what we will do when it does.

I hope that Not a Matter of ‘If’ but ‘When’ challenges and encourages you to face battles with anger and overcome them sooner rather than later. It’s not an easy process, but it’s worth it. The freedom and peace that come from responding to God’s way are worth every step of the journey.

If you have ever struggled with anger, forgiveness, disappointment, or simply keeping your heart aligned with God, I pray this resource will encourage you.
