Almost all of my posts have some reference to Africa. It, therefore, makes sense to bring you greetings from Africa, Karibu (welcome). Click on this link to view a YouTube video for a short introduction to our life on the continent. Although it needs updating (desperately), it will give you a glimpse into this stunning continent that my family and I call home. I hope you discover some posts to share and enjoy.

Living by faith, a lasting impact

My time spent in Africa has had a lasting impact on the content found here on A Cultural Shift. This has resulted in me being somewhat of a cultural enigma. I accept that it is a part of who I am. And rather than feeling strange about it, I have come to love this part of me.

A shifting culture

My culture has undergone significant changes since I dedicated my life to serving the continent. This is the reason why the blog is appropriately called A Cultural Shift. Life and culture are constantly shifting. We need to adapt to the shift. These are covered in the following articles. I hope they are a source of encouragement for you.

  • Where Are You?

    Where Are You?

I had an interesting conversation with a friend who was struggling to connect with people at church. My heart hurt for them in that moment because I’ve heard that many times and, unfortunately, experienced it myself. We are created to live connected. God created mankind to be in relationship, first with Himself, and then with…

    Birthday Parties and the Call

When my children were growing up, I planned birthday parties for them. They weren’t elaborate. Just the normal kind: invite your friends over, play a few games, and have cake and ice cream. They were fun, messy, and I loved seeing them smile and play until they were exhausted. Those were good times. Years passed,…
