Excuse Me? Thunders and Whispers

I have been in conversations with people where I’ve had to say, “Excuse me?” Because I couldn’t hear what was said. There have been other times when I’ve overheard conversations (like walking past a group of people at the gym) that have made me want to sink into the floor.

The “Excuse me” conversation is one that I’d much rather be part of than the one where I’ve overheard details that have ruined my day 😆😳.

Taking hearing to the point of communicating, that is where we often find the rub. Think of it, how often have we become offended by a sentence that is taken out of context or a word that is misinterpreted because we didn’t take time to tune in long enough to hear the speaker’s whole message?

Excuse me? Hearing God’s whisper

These days, I’m in a how to hear mode. I want to learn how to hear God’s voice more than my own.

Yesterday, I picked up a book, How to Hear God: a Simple Guide for Normal People by Pete Grieg (click the link to have a look). I feel that I am an uber-normal person and as such, a great candidate for the guide. There’s nothing I want more than to hear God’s voice every day.

Excuse me

But His voice rarely comes as an audible thunder clap from heaven. More often than not, He is found in conversation, in His Word (the Bible), and in the mundane day-to-day activities of life. I’ve just not tuned into His channel.

While we would all love to hear the thunder of His voice, it is His whisper that we need daily. Today, I challenge you to meet Him in the mundane. Listen for His whisper.
