I’ve not had a bad headache in years. But I had one last night. I had forgotten that headaches happen every now and again and the impact headaches can have on your day. I feel as if I am an ant that got stepped on.
Getting up this morning was challenging, but I managed. As the morning went on, I started to feel better. While I still feel groggy, I’m managing to get things done. Letters must be written, and other administrative work calls me to the office. I’ll get some more coffee; it will pass.
Headaches happen.
Air freshener
Yesterday, my daughter sprayed a strong air freshener in the living room. It didn’t sit right with me; strong smells have triggered headaches for me in the past. And now that I think about how smells have affected me, I’m not surprised that a headache had me in its vice all night long.
When I was younger, I would have moaned about it to my husband, but now I find I don’t have it to wake him up. I’ll take some ibuprofen and be done with it. Why should both of us be awake with a headache? Headaches happen!

I don’t know if you have had a headache today or if your headache isn’t an actual headache but something else. Remember, headaches happen! But they do eventually go away. I was reading the Bible, and this verse stood out and helped me navigate not only the discomfort I was feeling but also aimed a flashlight at some things going on in my life.
Even strong essential oils and diffusers can set off a headache in me. It’s inconvenient to be this way, as I enjoy fragrance. It just can’t be strong, or I’m done. Am I the only one?
Relief
“…I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down to deliver them…”
Exodus 3:7b, 8a NASB
I am so glad I had some ibuprofen on hand last night. It gave me much relief from my suffering. And, as for the things I’m facing, God is aware, and there’s some ibuprofen He has just for these issues that He will give me to deliver me. I will feel a bit groggy, most likely after it is all said and done, but headaches happen. And I’m not about to let that headache hold me back. I hope you won’t either.
