If life has been life-ing for you, hang with me for a few minutes and look at the stars.
I have gone through moments in life when clouds covered the stars. I knew they were there, but I couldn’t see them. I had seen them on clear nights and marveled at their brightness, but when the clouds rolled in, darkness settled, and those bright lights disappeared.

A vision
When I was very young, I had a vision of Africa. I saw the continent with beams of light darting back and forth between nations. I knew then that somehow I would find my way to those lights. And now, more than 40 years later, here I am. I know that the lights are still there, but from time to time, clouds blur my vision.
Go look at the stars
Imagine Abraham, he was promised by God that he would have a son (first in Genesis 15, then again in Genesis 17 and 18). God also promised that his descendants would outnumber the stars in the sky. Abraham wavered during those 25 years, but he did see God’s promise fulfilled. In that space of time, as I read between the lines, he must have had questions.
But I’ll bet Abraham went to look out at the stars.
These days I’ve had to go out and look at the stars from time to time to remember God’s promises. Life has been life-ing heavily but looking at the stars reminds me that His promises are sure. I’m working not to waver.
So if you are struggling, why not take a minute to go outside and take a look. The stars are beautiful tonight.
