I’ve not (yet) mastered the art of algorithms, anywhere. I read a post recently about those who aren’t good at self-promotion; I believe I fit that bill. It can be frustrating, but it’s how I’m made. Perhaps this is because I live in the world of non-profit, only working for the sake of the Name (IYKYK).
Years ago, I stepped into the world of selling insurance while we were in the USA for a couple of years. I quickly passed the licensing test, and off I went. I hoped to help pay bills with what I earned. My then-mentor said I needed to be pushy, call people out while they were walking, send intrusive emails, etc. Of course, I didn’t. But what did happen is I made friends. I never upsold anything; I only sold people what made sense to them.
I was a terrible insurance agent; I didn’t make much money, but I loved helping people.

I’m terrible at algorithms and promotion
So I guess I’m terrible at this marketing and promotion bit. Oh well! 😆 Such a misfit who will never fit in – but fitting in is overrated anyway.
In the meantime, I will muddle along because that’s what I do. Slow and steady, and enjoying the journey.
Fitting in isn’t always the goal. How do you balance standing out with staying authentic?

Dear Lea,
I love reading your posts and blogs. They encourage me. I STRUGGLE with self-promotion as does Reggie, but then I remind myself I am not selling myself, but promoting Jesus. He is the king of the universe and it is my job to make him known to a world that so needs HIM. So what can I do today to make Him know in a way that will bring Him glory and honor??
It’s so hard but keeping Him front and center of all we do – we’re not promoting ourselves, but His Kingdom!
