Unnoticed Beginnings

Time has a way of slipping past us as unnoticed beginnings. One moment we are in the thick of raising children, making plans, and dreaming about the future, and the next we look up and wonder how the years moved so quickly.

I remember when my husband and I were young, newlyweds, talking about how many children we hoped to have. I imagined one future, he imagined another, and in the end neither of us had our own way. Instead, we were given more than we planned for and more than we could have imagined. Looking back, it’s impossible to picture life any differently.

Beginnings are like that. We believe we can plan carefully, map things out, and see the end from the start. Experience teaches us otherwise. None of us is fully prepared for marriage, for raising children, or for living faithfully in a constantly changing world. And yet, somehow, we begin.

I wasn’t prepared to be a pastor’s wife, let alone a planting pastor’s wife in a foreign culture. There are no handbooks for this calling and no built-in exit strategy. Yet here I am, decades later, still partnering in the call with my husband and still dreaming for the future. How many times we needed rescuing along the way, I couldn’t begin to count. And still, every time, the rescue came. In every situation, God proved Himself faithful.

Unnoticed Beginnings: A Path to Rescue

Every deliverance, every rescue, has to begin somewhere. Those beginnings often go unnoticed. They may look like a new relationship, an unexpected opportunity, or a chance meeting. To us, they feel ordinary. To the Father, they are the starting point of rescue already in motion.

“...he will begin to rescue Israel...”

Judges 13:5 NLT

There will be times in all of our lives when we ache for rescue. Maybe you are already there. When the words in Judges were written, God had already begun to deliver Israel before they even realized it. Their rescue was in motion long before they knew He had heard their cry.

The beginning of a rescue often comes the same way. Small moments. God connections. What appear to be ordinary circumstances quietly set into place.

The work of God in our lives is never accidental. He is always preparing a rescue, because He knows exactly when we will need it.

unnoticed beginnings beautiful in its time

You can be sure that somewhere in your story, your rescue has already begun. As sure as there is a beginning, there will also be an end. The Rescuer is faithful, and in His time, you will see the tide begin to turn. Hold steady and trust that what God has started, He will faithfully complete.
