When Jesus Is Enough There’s Nothing More You Need

I’ve learned, and am learning, that Jesus is enough. He really is. It’s taken me some time and tumbles to learn this lesson. Let me elaborate a little.

We’ve moved a lot over the years, and I’ve learned how to start over with thirteen suitcases. In those bags, you’ll find four plates, four mugs, four bowls, and cutlery for four. There’s a set of sheets, some clothes, shoes, and maybe a few packets of taco mix.

And, you don’t realize how little you need to live until all the space you have to pack is thirteen suitcases.

Jesus is enough

Corrie Ten Boom (click the link to read her story) said something that challenges even my minimalist lifestyle, and I want to share it with you.

Jesus is enough

I want to encourage you to sit back and let this truth cover you: Jesus is enough. When things go wrong, when friends drift away, and bank accounts run dry, He is still enough. That may sound simplistic, even naive, but it is true. It is often only when we are empty that there is room for Him to come and fill us.

”Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever…But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.”

Psalm 73:25-26,28 (NASB)

I’ve found that the emptier I am of myself and my expectations, the more room there is for God to fill me. Those difficult moments often turn out for good, not because they feel good, but because God fills the space where I would otherwise try to fill myself.

If you find yourself empty today, let that be the place where Jesus meets you. Where in your life are you learning what it means to let Him be enough?
