Why Me? Why Not You?

A family member has been going through some difficult challenges. They asked me, “Why me? Why us?” And I replied, “Why not you?”

I know that wasn’t the most comforting counsel, but it’s what runs through my mind when I face difficulties on this pilgrim’s journey.

Why Me? Get Close.

why me
Charles Spurgeon quote: I’ve learned to kiss the wave that throws me on the rock of ages.”

What stops us from experiencing what everyone else goes through? God doesn’t promise a trouble-free life. As Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Hardship shouldn’t push us away; it should draw us closer.

When there is no way out, God makes a way through. He’s with us in the fire (Daniel 3), walks on the waves (John 6:16-21), and calms storms (Mark 4:39). Hang in there. Morning will come, and the Father will still be holding your hand.
