Nothing’s perfect. We can try, and we do, work to bring help to those in need. But, it will never be enough. There will always be one more. It’s tempting to think, then why do anything? Because at least in doing what we could, someone has been helped.
I’ve been in Malawi for the better part of a week now working with a group of volunteers from Hand of Hope. We are hosting a free community clinic in a village where our church has been working for many years. The people know us and have welcomed us with open arms. Things have gone very well. In the first two days of the outreach alone, we have seen over 3,200 patients. The best part is that close to 2,000 of those people have made decisions to follow Jesus.
It’s obvious as we work that nothing’s perfect. What we do is never enough. The line is never-ending, we sometimes run out of medication, and can’t treat everything that comes our way. We do our best. But we have to come to terms with the fact that our best is never going to fill the entire need.
Jesus help us.
This is the rawest part of what we do. However, we keep going. Today, you are likely faced with your own battles, feeling what you do is never enough and nothing’s perfect. God has never required of you to do more than you are able. Give it your best, and then give the rest to Jesus.
